What a fun weekend
I know it's only Saturday but it has been an AWESOME weekend so far. The kids and I left for Illinois yesterday morning to visit Pop for Father's Day and to go to Nichole's bridal shower at Aunt Cindy's on Sat. Plus a little swimming for an added bonus. We got there and the kids were already running toward the pool before I even unloaded the car. We swam, and swam, and swam. Even C loved the water. She had gotten to where she didn't want to even be near a body of water because of her ears but she got right in there and into her "Uniqua" (Backyardigans) floaty. She even jumped to Mom and I a couple of times without us being ready. She's a little daredevil. I even got to take a little 30 minute power nap out on the deck while Mom and the kids were in the house. Nichole came over later and we sat out by the pool and had a great time visiting and then us 3 girls stayed up and looked at Mom and Dad's photo album from when they got married 32 years ago in July! The storm hit and the power was off but Dad got us a bunch of flashlights and candles going. Then we got up bright and early and got 5 of us girls ready for the shower. That is quite a trick with 1 working bathroom. It was a great time. The shower was marvelous. Cindy, Cara and Holly had amazing food, quiches, fresh fruit, a strawberry/poppy seed salad (best salad I have ever had, Cara!!!), breakfast casserole, fancy chicken salad/pimento sandwiches, Cara's chocolate fondue with either strawberries, marshmallows, or angel food cake, and fancy glasses with peach tea, raspberry tea, or juice. And each person had a different stick on on the bottom of their glass and you knew which glass was yours all day. So cool!!!!! The cake was made by the lady who is potentially going to be made by the cake lady for the wedding. The top tier was chocolate and the bottom raspberry filled and everyone got to vote if they liked the cakes or thought she should keep looking for another cake lady.
