New Parent Orientation

Well, I didn't take any pictures today because tonight I had parent orientation for St. Susanna's. I can't believe I was more nervous for this than I was my own college orientation. Who would of thought what tonight entailed for a pre-k student. At 6pm we started out in the church for prayer and meeting the new principal and then we met all of the teachers preschool thru first grade, art, computer, librarian, pe, and music. It was very nice. The older kids 2nd-8th have it tomorrow night. Then we went to the cafeteria like a herd of cattle, received our packets, signed up for an account to put money in for school lunches (J will have his badge scanned and they just deduct it from an account), then signed up for early program, volunteered and met with the PTP president (Parent Teacher Partnership kinda like PTA), then we went on a tour of the classroom, then we went back to the church and Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. DeNadrian talked and went thru forms (lots and lots but the school is all green so we have to download everything and had them filled out when we got there). Then we went thru the preschool handbook, and 20 minutes on pick up and drop off. We were given 2 Family name placards for each car, and they must hang from the rear view mirror. They do not want parents in the school wandering halls. The school is locked and for emergencies you buzz in with the receptionist. All other times, you follow the map for the flow of traffic, line up in one of the 2 designated car lanes, and your child is taken from the car to the class by the teacher (6 children at a time) then flagged on thru. Under no circumstances does the parents get out of the car during loading and unloading. The one good thing is I will never have to tote the girls around or get out of the car in the rain. I think Eric will freak out if he ever has to do this. He and J have Donuts with Dad in Sept. so it will be interesting. All in all, I love the school and look forward to everything it has to offer. I don't think there is any other place that Jackson will like or fit in as well. The teachers and Father Kevin are wonderful!!!
